I woke in the middle of a valley
full of bones
as though I had lived through a rampage
A savage war of hell-rage
The aftermath
Slaughtered-bodies were stack by age
An onslaught, not accidental but calculated and intentional
but the party to this jail cage, was hidden
and as I awoke to realize the origin of my eyes
I looked to the skies
and sighed
because I remembered war cries
Pain flames my body from battles gone by
ringing in my ears
with inescapable stains of memories
dripping off me like tears
And I cried
